Wanting dewy and firm at the same time is the most common question I get, and the honest answer is that the tool is doing a good part of that job in either routine. Pick the one that matches how your skin actually behaves, and let the five minutes handle the rest.
In all three routines
Five minutes, morning or night
A routine you only apply is half a routine. This is the step I would push hardest if I could only push one, and it costs five minutes rather than another bottle, which is why it is built into all three. Circulation
Skin takes its color from the blood underneath it. A winter spent sitting still in heated rooms means less of it reaches the surface, which is a good part of why faces look gray by January. Working the tool over the face brings that blood up where you can see it. The flush afterward is the point, not a side effect.
Glow
Two things make skin look lit. A smooth surface for light to bounce off, which the polish handles, and good color underneath it, which the tool handles. Doing one without the other is why a person can exfoliate faithfully all winter and still look flat in photographs.
Structure
Faces hold tension in the jaw, the brow, and the band across the cheek, and fluid pools overnight. Massage moves both, so the face reads lifted and less set. A gua sha does not build collagen and I will not tell you it does. It makes the face you already have look less tired, and you see it the same day.
One rule: never drag. A steel edge on dry skin is how you end up pink, which is why the GS1 Glide Nectar goes with it every time. Oil first, then the tool, outward and up, light pressure. Morning is for puffiness, evening is for a tight jaw, and both work. If you are breaking out, go around the active spots rather than over them and wash the tool afterward.
